I enjoyed this bizarre swoop into a splintered and spiralling journey of loss and grief of Eileen the Crow, and the madness that is all encompassing of their existence, and that of which is bound to Yharnam.Beautiful panels of artwork that reflect a serenity and haunting existence, and the surreal eldritch-esque borne psychosis, this time partners very well with the writing which weaves reflection of a psyche that has been torn from trauma and inevitability.
The strongest instalment yet, and feels the most organic, doing the world and temper of Bloodborne justice, in a pocket-size and intimate setting.

This is a little more than mainstream with a video game property, simply instead of beingness a a cheap rip off--this book is weird. Like the Heavy Metallic adaptation of 1941 WEIRD.
Piotr Kowalski kills information technology with the art and Kot tries interesting (if not entirely successful things)
I always find it fascinating when "auteur" writers get a scissure to practice mainstream properties. It took a couple of reads for me to comprehend what I call back is happening in the story. Information technology'due south not straightforward. You accept to engage and work with the text and artwork and pay attention. It'due south well-nigh similar a riddle. I dearest what has been attempted here and if it wasn't for the fact that I feel similar I might be missing something I think I would charge per unit it more highly.
Similarly to the first volume this story is more artwork than text and it is the art that tells the bulk of the story besides as setting the overall tone and feel. It's the get-go time things accept got really trippy with there being no text at all in the third part.
All in all the story itself is pretty simple. But the style information technology is told is engaging and forced the reader to play an agile role in unraveling information technology's pregnant. This certainly won't be for everyone but I enjoyed this offering and will continue to enjoy the series and how different each story and volume are proving to exist.

Information technology's a nice read simply don't expect for it to take a deep story, unless you lot've played the game and know almost the lore. I experience similar you lot wouldn't enjoy information technology as much.
You wouldn't know much of the backstory of Eileen the Crow, I'thou pretty sure they don't fifty-fifty mention her name in the books. It'll look much more of a book total of beautifully nighttime art without the knowledge of the games story. All the same an enjoyable read if you don't try to focus too hard on the story!

I knew the weight of my expectation would eventually sink the soaring hopes I had for this series. If The Death of Slumber started this off promisingly, if not perfectly. Then, the carefully crafted, rather masterful The Healing Thirst followed, which was all I wanted of this series, and a fiddling chip more. This was always going to be that difficult third album. I didn't know where Kot would take the story, or rather how (Zero spoiler review) Read my previous Bloodborne reviews for greater context.

I didn't know where Kot would take the story, or rather how he would go about telling it. The fact information technology was about Eileen Crow was a positive omen, although it seems, this is where Kot perhaps disappeared a trivial besides far upward his own backside, with Kiowolski delivering some of his greatest, and weakest panels throughout the serial (with a number of repeated panels, and some artistic choices that may not be to everyone'south liking). Now don't get me wrong, there is still something very worthwhile here, its but non what I, nor few others wanted from this serial on its tertiary arc. If the thin, ambiguous narrative of Volume one didn't tickle your fancy, then y'all are definitely going to loathe this effort. This is an exercise in the existential, to the indicate of defective whatsoever semblance of a cohesive narrative. The third issue, featuring no words at all (and some exquisite art, was both infuriating and rewarding (though more then the former). The occasional appearance of A character and A location from the game was a pleasant addition, but other than the primary protagonist, there was really nothing else to ground this in the Bloodborne world. It really could have been any number of dark, dystopian type properties. If at that place was fifty-fifty half a narrative to go with this volume (much like volume 1) It would have been all the better for it. Though if we get a Healing Thirst render to form for the final volume, I will consider the series overall a resounding success. The weakest, though a worthwhile entry even so. 3.25/5

From the blurb on Hoopla- The urban center
Today'south mail is on Bloodborne: A Song of the Crows by AleĆĄ Kot, illustrated past Piotr Kowalski, Brad Simpson. Information technology is 31 pages long and is published past Titan Comics. The comprehend is red with the Eileen the Crow over the city. The intended reader is someone who has played the game Bloodborne and is interested in more of this globe. There is no foul language, no sex activity, and some violence in this volume. The story is told from Eileen'southward perspective. There Be Spoilers Ahead. From the blurb on Hoopla- The city of Yharnam: an ancient, Gothic urban center and dwelling house to the Healing Church.
Recent days take seen the city fall foul to a nightmarish plague known equally the Cadaverous Blood disease, the source of which remains a mystery.
In a globe of gods and monsters, sanity is simply subjective, and fear and blood are sanctified.
Hunters now stalk the streets in search of beasts as the moon hangs ominously low in Yharnam'south sky.
Merely as dubiety fills the air, and the thirst for blood becomes clamorous, the hunters become the hunted…
Review- Once once again nosotros are earlier the beast plague over takes Yharnam happens with Eileen seeing that she needs to be hunting over again. She is older and has hoped to put aside the chase but something has changed in Yharnam and now she must hunt again. The art is good, the story line is interesting, I liked seeing more than of Eileen as she trying is discover what is going on in her home, and the style the story is told is interesting. Eileen is losing time, from all the years of hunting and using the blood to help her hunt and it gives the story the proper surrealism that fits the bizarre setting of Bloodborne. I await forward to going with Eileen on her journey to find some answers.
I give this volume a Five out of 5 stars. I get zero for my review and I borrowed this comic from my local library'south Hoopla account.

Only a note for those who haven't started this series yet, and who have played Bloodborne, Volume ane is about the story of a nameless hunter who meets a hunter you see in Old Yharnam during the events of the game. Volume 2 shows the outset of the claret plague afflicting Yharnam. Volume 3 is about Eileen the Crow.
The volumes don't demand to be read in whatever order as they are standalones. I too recommend playing the games before
This comic wasn't equally practiced as the previous two volumes in the series.Just a note for those who haven't started this series withal, and who have played Bloodborne, Book 1 is about the story of a nameless hunter who meets a hunter you meet in Quondam Yharnam during the events of the game. Volume 2 shows the get-go of the blood plague afflicting Yharnam. Volume 3 is nearly Eileen the Crow.
The volumes don't need to be read in any club as they are standalones. I also recommend playing the games earlier you read the comics (they will grant you optics). They will brand more sense as you lot read them and you'll empathize some of the references.
However, this volume is more than metaphysical than the previous volumes. Perhaps Eileen is in the Hunter'south Nightmare. She keeps request herself "When is this?" and other random questions. Not everyone volition like this volume, but this shows a different side of Bloodborne. The story has less action, instead focusing more on the insanity that starts to seep into the minds of those who apply the Old Blood and who must kill beasts - onetime humans.
The artwork, while good, seems to accept been the focus of the people who worked on this comic. There were a lot of short panels taking up the pages. That could have been cut down to fewer only larger panels showing scenes, because almost of the scenes that got cut into a lot of tiny panels seemed to prove the same thing, but from slightly different angles. But perhaps the reason why the story showed so many small panels was considering the artist wanted to testify us the world from Rom's perspective, who Eileen later meets. If that'south the case, this volume is a lot deeper than I realized.

Eileen The Crow walks the streets of Yharnam, badly trying to fill a hole in her memories. Her travels take her to Bergenwerth, where she comes face to face with Rom, the Vacuous Spider. Just volition being granted insight into her by assist her come to terms with it, or only drive her further into madness?Given the way the blurb describes this story, I expected this 1 to be more than about why Eileen hunts Hunters and not about her missing babyhood friend/blood brother (it'south not really clear, similar most of this story). Instead we become something that feels deliberately obtuse - FromSoftware take never been one for making it easy to decipher the lore of their worlds, but Eileen's ramblings and her encounters with Rom and the mystery man in her memories experience like they're trying to be metaphorical and literal at the same time and stop upwards not actually saying much overall, especially since the latter two issues of the volume have barely whatever words in them.
The artwork's yet crawly though - Piotr Kowalski goes mad with the many-paneled pages, especially once nosotros beginning seeing things from Rom's perspective, and he manages to brand the Spider look both strangely gentle and entirely alien all at in one case.
I enjoyed reading this, but I couldn't really tell you lot what happened. Accept that withal you similar.

I thin I love Eileen, so I was really looking forward to this volume of the Bloodborne serial, merely information technology's actually bizarre and disjointed. I know it was the intention as the next volume follows the aforementioned manner, but I was hoping to learn more about the character and its by, and while we practise get some hints about her childhood (probably), it'south all really convoluted and, actually, more than obscure, however, it was pretty fascinating and we exercise get a potent feeling of her state of mind and what haunts her.
I think this volume and the next work considering of that, even though the stories are told in a non linear mode in which one doesn't fifty-fifty know what's actually going on (what's real in Bloodborne's world anyway?) and there're lots of repetitions and a feeling of chaos and haunting spiraling into a descent into madness or a fading of the self, information technology'due south pretty like to the oppressive atmosphere of the game and its deep yet obscure story you demand to dig out yourself. Information technology'south pretty cool but you lot demand to approach with an open mind and be enlightened is non a traditional piece of narrative, same as the game. ...more
Vol. 3 focuses on Eileen the Crow, a fan-favorite min
I love the Bloodborne game, so I've viewed this serial as a fun little side dish to the mythos of the main game, though nothing too serious. Most of the lore is not explained in-game, instead you accept to piece together what you lot can find via item descriptions and your imagination. I feel similar Kot's series is a chip like that, I have what I can get and weave it into the narrative of Yharnam in my own mind (perhaps I, also, take been granted eyes?)Vol. 3 focuses on Eileen the Crow, a fan-favorite minor character from the game, with verrrrrry fiddling backstory, so exploring her seems like it would be a fleck divisive. And indeed, the story herein is very scattered and dreamlike, much like they're trying to draw her mindset. Maybe that comes across and maybe it doesn't. Only the the art, and omg specially the coloring (the colors, Knuckles, the colors!), really blew my mind in this volume.
Story: 3

It tries to tell the story of Eileen the crow. Whether this takes place before or after the game plot is left open to estimation.
Information technology's not perfect. I got the basic story, simply I'k going to have to re-read it to meet if I tin make more out of it on the 2d pass. Sometimes I felt similar they were just spitting out cool images for the sake of looking absurd. There
In some ways, this is the trippy heed spiral I kind of wanted from this belongings, all virtually insanity, insight, and changes in perception. It tries to tell the story of Eileen the crow. Whether this takes place before or after the game plot is left open to interpretation.
It'south not perfect. I got the bones story, but I'm going to have to re-read it to come across if I tin can make more out of it on the second pass. Sometimes I felt like they were but spitting out cool images for the sake of looking cool. There were pages that I felt were more padding than anything.
Other than that, the matter that bugged me is that this character designed to evoke sky burial not simply buries corpses and seems to come up from a culture of cremation, just seems confused to see a corpse displayed in a style that, to me, evokes sky burial.

I'll definitely purchase more from the series. At to the lowest degree now I know not to expect much storywise.
I'thousand giving it 4 stars mainly because of the outstanding artwork that just satisfies my aesthetic needs. The story though, I take no idea what happened. I go that this earth in itself is an enigma, but it seems like the writer made it fifty-fifty more convoluted, and that does not appeal to the fans of the game who, in most cases, reach for comics to get the backstory and and so try to put the pieces together.I'll definitely buy more than from the series. At least now I know not to expect much storywise.

Abstract, weird. Yes, I think that is the word, weird. Like an incomplete puzzle.

That was abstract. Eileen continues to exist a puzzle. This is the third Bloodborne comic I have read and it is by far the nearly esoteric. Like a Picaso painting or the eldritch, unknowable strangeness of the great old ones.
If you similar bloodborne then y'all probably similar Eileen the Crow. And this is a proficient comic with her that was some astonishing art. With that said by reading this you are going to feel an acid trip.
